8.     8. You must show all your work and can use any result derived or proved in the lectures unless if you are asked to reproduce the derivation or the proof of that result.

Suggestions: To prepare for this exam read the related chapters of the book and go over your Definitions and Theorems lists that you have prepared in doing the weekly assignments. You must know all the definition by heart and be able to prove the theorems in your list without looking up your notes or the book. Once you are happy about your knowledge of definitions and theorems, start solving as many problems in the book as you can. Remember that a successful exam should measure the depth of your knowledge not the extent of your memory. So try not to memorize the solution of specific problems or guess possible exam problems and concentrate on them.
