Coverage: Sections 1.1-1.5, 1.7-1.9, 2.1- 2.3, 2.8, 2.9, 3.1-3.3, 4.1-4.7, 5.1, 5.2,
5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 6.1, 6.2, and 6.4 of the textbook (Lay et al, 5th edition.) For a detailed list of topics see the contents of Lectures 1-27 given in Section 3.
Rules to be
enforced during the exam:
1.
Students
who are not eligible this exam should not take it. If they do their exam paper
will not be graded.
2.
Students
will not be allowed to take the exam if they arrive after 8:45.
3. Students will not be allowed to leave the
exam within the first 20 minutes.
4.
Students
must turn off their
mobile phones during the exam and remove them from the
desks and the nearby chairs.
5.
Students
must present their Student ID in order
to take the exam.
6.
Once
the exam starts, no questions will be answered.
7.
Students
will not be allowed to share pens, pencils, erasers, and any other items.
8.
No
calculators, computers, or formula sheets are allowed in the exam.
9.
If a
student asks to leave the exam, say for example to go to toilet, (s)he must
hand in his (her) exam paper before (s)he leaves, and will not allowed to
return and continue the exam.
10. To get credit you must show
all the details of your work. Ambiguous and false statements is a sign of lack of proper
understanding of the subject and can be a valid cause for grade deduction. Correct
end results with little or no details of their derivation will not earn any
credit.
