Homework assignment for Feb. 17-25 has been posted. To access it follow the link: Homework Assignments. You are urged to first read the part of the textbook that is indicated as a part of the homework assignment, make a list of all the definition and the theorems (including proposition, lemmas, etc.) for your reference, and try to prove the latter on your own. Consult your lecture notes and the book if you have trouble proving them. After you are satisfied with your performance in recalling the definitions and proving the theorems given in your list, start working on the assigned problems. Do not forget that mathematics is the art of thinking. You should know the concepts before being able to think about them. So take your time and think about the new concepts that you are exposed to in this course. Then try to attack the problems.

Starting from tomorrow the  PS on Tuesday will be held in SCI-Z08 at 17:00-17:50.

Quiz 4 will be held on Friday, March 19, at 11:00-12:15, in SOS-144. It will contain problems from the list given in the homework  assignment for Mar. 12-18 (Homework Assignments) as well as definitions and the proofs that I left as exercises in class.

There will be an extra lecture this Friday, March 26, at 11:00-12:15, in SOS-144. 

Midterm Exam 1 will be held on Wednesday, March 31, at 11:00-12:15, in SCI-Z32. It will contain at least one problem from the list given in the homework  assignments for Mar. 19-25 and 26-30 (Homework Assignments 5 and 6). For further information click on Midterm Exam 1.

The PS on Friday April 02 has been cancelled.

Quiz 7 and Midterm Exam 2 have been rescheduled. See Quiz & Exam Schedule for details. There will be an extra quiz (Quiz 8) on May 28. Its grade will be substituted for the lowest grade in quizzes, i.e., effectively the lowest quiz grade will be droped.

Quiz 7  will be held on  Friday, May 07, at 11:00-12:15, in SCI-Z08.  It will contain problems from the list given in the homework assignment for April 30-May 04 (Homework Assignments) as well as the related definitions and the proofs that I left as exercises in class.

There will be no PSs during the week of May 17.
