Math 208, Spring 2013, Midterm Exam 1

 

 

Time: 11:00-12:20, Friday, March 15, 2013

 

Place: CAS-B40

 

Coverage: Material of Chapters 1, 2, and 3 of the textbook that are covered in class. See Content of Lectures 1-10. The exam will include at least one problem from each of Homework Assignments 5 and 6.

 

Rules to be enforced during the exam:

 

1.     1. You will not be allowed to take the exam if you arrive after 11:10.

 

2.     2. You will not be allowed to leave the exam within the first 15 minutes.

 

3.     3. You must present your Student ID in order to take the exam.

 

4.     4. Once the exam starts, you may ask any question about it within the first 10 minutes. You may or may not get an answer for your question(s).

 

5.     5. During the exam you will not be allowed to share pens, pencils, erasers, and any other items.

 

6.     6. No calculators or formula sheets are allowed in the exam.

 

7.     7. If you ask to leave the exam, say for example to go to toilet, you must hand in your exam paper before you leave. You will not be allowed to return and continue the exam.

 

8.     8. You must show all your work and can use any result derived or proved in the lectures unless if you are asked to reproduce the derivation or the proof of that result.

 

9.     9. You will have the option of estimating your grade. In this case you must record your estimate in the space provided in the cover page of the exam. If your estimated grade exceeds your actual grade at most by 9 points, it will be used as your exam grade. If not, your actual grade will be used.
