Spring 2005

1. Quiz 1 will be held on Monday February 28 during the PS. It will cover the material of Assignment 1. This announcement was posted on February 24, 2005.

2. Quiz 2 will be held on Monday March 7 during the PS. It will cover the material of Chapter 2 and parts of Chapter 3 of the textbook that is assigned as Assignment 2. This announcement was posted on March 3, 2005.

3. Suggested topics for term-paper project, PS attendance, Quiz 1 grades and solutions have been posted. This announcement was posted on March 4, 2005.

4. PS attendance, Quiz 2 grades and solutions have been posted. This announcement was posted on March 10, 2005.

5. Midterm Exam 1 will be held on Tuesday March 15 during the class hour. It will be out of the material covered in the lectures, namely those of pages 1-53 of the textbook. See Assigments 1, 2 and 3. This announcement was posted on March 10, 2005.

6. Term-paper projects have been assigned. See the list. This announcement was posted on March 21, 2005.

7. Assignment 4 for March 24-28 has been posted. This announcement was posted on March 24, 2005.

8. Quiz 3 will be held either on Wednesday March 30 at 17:00 unless at least one of the students attending the PS on Monday March 28 objects. In that case the quiz will be given on Monday March 28 during the PS. The students that have an exam on this date must arrange that the faculty member teaching the course in which they have the exam writes me (Ali Mostafazadeh) an e-mail confirming that they took that exam. Quiz 3 will cover material from Chapters 3,4 and 5 that is assigned as Assignment 4. This announcement was posted on March 24, 2005.

9. Assignment 5 for March 31-April 4 has been posted. This announcement was posted on March 31, 2005.

10. In order to compensate for the lectures during which the midterm exams are held we need to have two additional lectures. They will be held after the quizzes, i.e., 17:30-18:45, on Monday April 18 and Monday May 16. This announcement was posted on April 12, 2005.

11. Assignment 6 for April 16-18 has been posted. This announcement was posted on April 16, 2005.

12. Quiz 4 will be held either on Monday April 18 at 17:00. There will be an additional (short) lecture after the quiz starting 17:45. Quiz 4 will cover material from Chapters 5 and 6 that is assigned as Assignment 5 and Assignment 6 This announcement was posted on April 16, 2005.

13.  Assignment 7 for April 22-25 has been posted. This announcement was posted on April 22, 2005.

14. Midterm Exam 2 will be held on Thursday April 28 during the class hour. It will be out of the material covered in the lectures, namely those of pages 1-137 of the textbook. Main focus will be on the subjects treated after Midterm Exam 1, namely those of Assigments 4-7. This announcement was posted on April 22, 2005.

17. Quiz 5 will be held either on Monday May 16 at 17:00. There will be an additional (short) lecture after the quiz starting 17:45. Quiz 5 will cover the material from Chapter 7 of the textbook. This announcement was posted on May 12, 2005.

18. Recall that Tuesday May 17 is the deadline for handing in the draft of your term paper.

20. Midterm Exam 3 will be held on Thursday May 26 during the class hour. It will be out of the material covered in the lectures, namely those of pages 1-191 of the textbook.
