Suggested Questions for Presentation on Research

  1. What is your topic?
  2. How did you reach the decision to do your essay on this topic?
  3. Were you already interested in this topic before you started your research?
  4. How much did you know about the topic before you started researching it?
  5. Where did you find your sources?
  6. Did you encounter any difficulties while trying to find sources?
  7. Did you change topic at any point in the semester – why?
  8. What was the central question that your paper addressed?
  9. What was your answer to that question - what was your thesis?
  10. What things have you discovered about your topic that you think may be of interest to your classmates?
  11. Was there anything you found out that surprised you?
  12. If you had to do the research paper again, what would you do differently?
  13. What are the 5 most important things that you have learned about doing research?
  14. What advice would you give to current 101 students re: research papers in Comm 102?

Note that these questions are intended to guide you on what you may include in your presentation. Your presentation should not simply  involve working through these questions offering an answer to each.
