Prerequisites:

This course is suitable for Jr. and Sr. level Electrical Engineering and Physics students. Phys 102 is required and Elec 206: EM Theory or equivalent is helpful.

Grading Policy and Dates:

Exams are open book and notes (computers are not allowed, calculators are allowed). Objections to grades must be made within one week after grades are posted.

1.     Midterm Exam I: 25% (Oct 27, 2008 - Tue) (PS on Oct 23, 5pm; Place: TBD)

2.     Midterm Exam II: 25% (Dec 29, 2008) (PS on Dec 25, 5pm)

3.     Final exam: 35% (TBD: Jan 12-22, 2009)

4.     Quizzes and Homeworks: 15%

5.     Optical Design Project: 10% (Jan 8, 2009, Thu 4-6 pm in Eng Z19 lab)

Dishonesty, including cheating in the exams, homeworks, and term project will not be tolerated and University policies as written in the University catalogue will be strictly enforced.
