Textbook: Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 7th edition, by Stewart.

Where can I buy the book ?

You need to obtain a book by following one of the 3 alternatives :

1- Our textbook  Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 7th edition, by Stewart

2- Alternatively you can purchase a custom text, Multivariable Calculus, from The University Book Store.

3- Another alternative is using the electronic version of the text included when you purchase WebAssign.

Warning : Textbook is "early transcendentals" not the "regular" version.

How are grades calculated ?

Quizes : %5 (The lowest score will be dropped)

Homeworks : %20 (The lowest score will be dropped)

Midterms : %20 each

Final Exam : %35

Where can I find the exam and homework schedules ?

Follow the link at the class webpage.

Homework: The homework assignments and their due dates will be posted on the class webpage. You will need a WebAssign.

What is WebAssign and where can I get it ?
WebAssign is a web-based application for Homeworks. You'll need to access WebAssign in order to submit your homework.
There is a two week "grace period" at the start of the quarter when you can use WebAssign for free. After that you will have to have an access code.

If you used WebAssign for a calculus course from the Stewart calculus book (for instance, for Math 124, 125, or 126 at UW), then your access code should still work for our class. If you don't already have an access code,

you can buy it with the text or by itself at the University Book Store.
You can also buy it with an electronic version of the text on-line here.
Or you can buy an access code all by itself here. (This is useful if you've bought a used copy of the text.)

If you buy online, be sure you "activate" the code for the 7th edition of the text.

Exams: The midterm will held on class time (check schedule) and will be 50 minutes long. The Final Exam is cumulative and its time and location will be anounced at the class website.

Calculators : You need a scientific calculator, however any calculator (or other device) capable of graphing functions are not allowed on quizzes and exams.

Note Sheets: You can bring 1 page (8.5 x 11 inch size) of hand-written notes to the exams (both sides can be used).

Late homeworks: Late homework will not be accepted for any reason. However you can miss one homework assignment without any effect to your grade. The lowest score will be dropped.

Make-ups for exams There will be NO make up for quizes. However you can miss one quiz without any effect to your grade. The lowest score will be dropped. There will be NO make up for exams. In case of and unexpected event such as an accident contact me as soon as possible. In that case you will be required to provide necessary documentation for your absence. In such a case you will not take makeup but your final exam will be weighted more heavily.

How can I get a good score ?

- Homeworks are very important in this class. They are the key element to test your understanding of the subject and your readiness for the tests. You may need to start working on them a few days before the due date.

- Start working as early as you can. Start working on the HW problems as early as you can so that you'll have time to get help in case you need. Also first week is a good time to check out what resources you have and determine which of the resources you prefer.

- Use resources. Some of your resources you can use are :
