How are grades calculated ?
Homeworks : %45
Midterm : %20
Final Exam : %35
Where can I find the exam and homework schedules ?
Click the "Schedule" link at the class webpage.
Homework: There will be weekly homework assignments
and their due
dates are posted on the class webpage. Depending on the length or number
of questions in a homework assignment, it is possible that some
selected problems from the HW will be graded (in such a case you
will get a completeness score for the rest of the problems in
your assignment).
Late homeworks: Late homework will not be accepted for any reason. However you can miss one homework assignment without any effect to your grade since the lowest score will be dropped.
Exams: The midterm will be held on classtime and
include all previously covered material. The Final Exam is
cumulative. Check the schedule link for the location and date/time
of the exams.
Make-ups for exams There will be NO make up for exams. In case of an unexpected event such as an accident contact me as soon
as possible. In that case you will be required to provide neccesary documentation for your absence. In such a case you will not take makeup but your final exam or homeworks might be weighted more heavily.
How can I get a good score ?
- Homeworks are very important in this class. They are the key element to test your understanding of the subject and your readiness for the tests. Most of the problems require concentration so you may need to start working on them a few days before the due date.
- Start working as early as you can.
Start working on the HW problems as early as you can so that you'll
have time to ask about them.
