PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

  • UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA, Wharton School of Management, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, 2010
Visiting Scholar, The Operations, Information and Decisions Department

  • EURANDOM, Technical University of Eindhoven (TUE), The Netherlands 1999-2001
    Research Fellow, Stochastic Networks Group

    • Developed theoretical background for the control of loss systems, and started its application on call centers, which have been one of the most cost-effective means of responding to customers in many different industries, including banking and finance, for the last decades.

    • Worked on the project funded by Philips Research on the mathematical analysis of access networks, with particular emphasis on self regulation to complement and strengthen the simulation based approach to performance analysis of access networks, as carried out within Philips Research as well as to strengthen the position of Philips Research in the field of the performance analysis of stochastic systems.

  • CLEVELAND CLINIC FOUNDATION, Cleveland, Ohio, USA Summer 1997
    System Analyst, Department of Anesthesiology

    • Participated in a database design project to design and implement an information system for following all the treatments the patients receive in the department of anesthesiology as well as their pre-treatment and post-treatment conditions. Ensured that the database is kept up-to-date. Also linked the system to the databases used in the other departments of the clinic.

  • CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY, Cleveland, Ohio, USA Summer 1996
Research Assistant, Department of Operations Research

    • Assisted Dr. Apostolos Burnetas in a research project on the design problem of an M/M/c queueing system with two customer classes under different priority policies. Used queueing theory results to determine the optimal number of servers under static policies. Modeled the system under idling priority policy as a Markov decision process. Evaluated the effect of different priority policies on the design of an M/M/c queue based on these analysis and concluded that the solution of the design problem is rather insensitive to the priority policy.
