Title:  Topological Study of Pairs of Algebraically Closed Fields

Abstract: Model theoretic study of pairs of algebraically closed fields goes back to Keisler, who proved a completeness result and a quantifier elimination result. Since then there has been quite a bit of work on the subject of expansions of fields by certain subsets. In this talk, I will propose a topological study of pairs of algebraically closed fields. The topology I will introduce is strictly between the Zariski and Kolchin topologies. After a brief introduction to Model Theory, I will illustrate some preliminary results on the interaction of this topology and model theoretic concepts.

Speaker's Brief Biography: He graduated from Bilgi University, Department of Mathematics. He has a PhD in mathematics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before joining Mimar Sinan University, he was at Universidade de Lisboa in Portugal during 2009–2012, a visiting scholar in Fields Institute, Toronto, Canada, from January 2009 to July 2009, and Marie Curie Postdoc at University of Oxford, UK during 2008 –2009. His research mostly concerns applications of Model Theory to Algebra and Number Theory.
