Title: Strongly Rayleigh measures and the Kadison-Singer problem
Abstract: I'll talk about the class of Strongly Rayleigh measures introduced in 2009 by Borcea, Branden and Liggett to model negative dependancy in discrete probability and how they can be used to solve Anderson's paving conjecture and thus give an alternate solution to the Kadison-Singer problem, which was solved in 2013 by Marcus, Spielman and Srivastava.
Speaker's Brief Biography: Mohan Ravichandran is an assistant professor of Mathematics at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. He got his PhD at the University of New Hampshire in 2009 with a thesis on von Neumann algebras. He is currently interested in Convex Geometry and Random Matrix Theory.
