Abstract:

Recent U.S. National Academy of Sciences Report "Connecting
Quarks with the Cosmos: Eleven Science Questions For the New
Century" picked the origin of elements heavier that iron as
one of the unsolved problems of modern science. In this talk
the properties of supernovae are outlined and the role of
supernovae and neutrinos in forming such elements will be
explored.
