Introduction
:: February 8, 2011 ::
Upon finishing my undergraduate studies and holding a bachelor's degree (BA) in ELT (English Language Teaching) from Hacettepe University in 2006, I started a master's degree (MA in ELT) in the FLE (Foreign Languages Education) department at Middle East Technical University in the same year. At that time, I was honored with Fulbright Scholarship for graduate studies in the USA; therefore, I had to quit that program and went to pursue my master's (MSc in TESOL) in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice at the State University of New York at Albany between the years 2007 and 2009. As a fulfillment of the program requirements, I wrote a master's thesis on "ESL/EFL teachers' perspectives in 3D virtual worlds" (view the full record online at: An Exploration of Three-Dimensional (3D) Virtual Worlds through ESL/EFL Teachers’ Perspectives in Second Life). In the fall of 2009, I came back to Ankara, Turkey and started my doctoral studies (non-matriculated) in FLE at Hacettepe University. However, after completing a semester there, I had to leave Ankara again for my current teaching position at Koc University and enroll in a doctoral program here in Istanbul.
I am currently working as a full-time EFL (English as a Foreign Language) instructor at Koc University and doing my PhD in FLE with a concentration in ELT (English Language Teaching) at Istanbul University.
My research interests include (but are not limited to) CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) and Instructional Technology, Curriculum Development, ELF and WEs (English as a Lingua Franca and World Englishes), and Global Education.

This web site aims NOT to address a specific group of people in order to develop social, political, cultural, commercial, whatsoever-al relationships; RATHER serves as a multimedia environment where I can store, present (some people may interpret as "showing off"; it's their problem), and share my humble research and experiences concerning the state of the art practices in foreign languages education as well as some personal shots, records, tastes, facts and figures from a "glocal" citizen's point of view... Stay tuned! B-)
