Serpil Sayın earned a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering with a double major in Mathematics at Bogaziçi University in Istanbul in 1988. In 1992, she completed her Ph.D. studies in the department of Decision and Information Sciences at the University of Florida. She worked as an assistant professor in the Faculty of Business Administration at Bilkent University until July 1996. She then joined Koç University's College of Administrative Sciences and Economics. Her  research is mainly in the area of Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM). She is also interested in topics in operations management,  decision support, and data mining. Since August 2008, she has been serving as the associate dean responsible for graduate programs in business and executive education at the Graduate School of Business.
